AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY

Afterschool activities are a valuable resource dedicated to ensuring that our children and youth have access to valuable opportunities for real-life learning through the many organizations in our community that provide exceptional programs. These school and community-based activities can include ballet, karate, soccer, scouts, swimming lessons and other youth development programs that offer opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and social interaction in structured and environments guided by supportive adults.  

After-school activities play a crucial role in complementing the academic curriculum by providing children with opportunities to explore their interests, develop new talents, and build important life skills. Participation in activities like ballet fosters creativity, discipline, and physical fitness, while engagement in karate promotes self-confidence, self-discipline, and respect for others. Youth engagement activities, on the other hand, provide children with opportunities to volunteer, participate in community service projects, and develop leadership skills.  

However, the cost of participation in extracurricular activities can  

sometimes pose a barrier for families, particularly those facing financial challenges. The Extracurricular Fund aims to address this barrier by providing financial assistance to families in need, thereby ensuring that all children can participate in activities that contribute to their development and well-being.  

By helping with the costs associated with afterschool activities, this fund helps to promote equity and inclusivity, ensuring that socio-economic status does not limit a child's access to enriching experiences outside of the classroom.
